3-5 Mock-up: Assembly

Referencing photographs, the visible engine components seen through the main landing gear bays—such as the ignition generator, coolant pump, control unit, oil tank, engine mounts, and various piping and wiring—are scratch-built to look realistic, then painted in gunmetal, matte black, and gray tones. These are fitted into the holes located on the lower part of the fuselage.
The next step is finally joining the main wing block to the fuselage block.

03-1 Mock-up: Cowling and Radiator

Open holes in the nose cowling, whose outer shape has already been formed together with the fuselage block, to install the annular radiator.
After rough cutting with a round gouge, finish by wrapping sandpaper around a round stick (I used the handle of a carving knife).

3-2 Mock-up: Fuselage

Divide the roughly shaped fuselage block into three parts:
the cowling section where the annular radiator will be attached,
the center fuselage section,
and the tail section which will receive the extension piece.
Also prepare an extension piece approximately 1 cm long.

3-4 Mock-up: Tail Unit

On the actual aircraft, the horizontal stabilizer is a single-piece structure whose incidence angle can be adjusted.
In this model, the stabilizer is first shaped as a single unit and then divided into two halves.
A brass rod is inserted through the fuselage, and the two stabilizer halves are mounted on both sides, clamping the fuselage between them.

3-3 Mock-up: Main Wing

With the fuselage shaping mostly complete, we now move on to the construction of the main wing.
In photographs of the real aircraft, the main spar ribs and other internal structures are visible through the landing gear bays on the wing’s underside, so I reproduce this detail as faithfully as possible.
The landing gear bays are made by heat-pressing plastic sheets.
First, form only the wing’s leading edge and use that as the wooden mold.
At this stage, the wing has no di…
