Modeling History (Self-Introduction)
[Chronicles of Japanese Solid Models] Vol. 1
Yasuichi Takami — The Quiet Craftsman Who Sustained Postwar Model Culture
Yasuichi Takami was a master cabinetmaker by trade. He favored naval aircraft and produced numerous subjects from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Working at a brisk, disciplined pace, he created models noted for crisp lines, balanced proportions, and a quietly evocative character—qualities that earned him a nationwide following. His build photographs and step-by-step articles, published in leading aviation magazines, captivated both casual readers and dedicated enthusiasts. Within the community, his gentle Osaka dialect and unassuming manner were part of his enduring appeal.
*In the next installment, we will introduce a magazine-published article on his solid-model construction.*
